Agree on both sentiments, elbow.

As many of you know, I consistently tout 10/29/77 as THE greatest Dead show of all time.

I certainly believe as well that that version of EYES is the finest they ever did.

I'm just at least thankful the tragedy did not occur in the Evan's Fieldhouse itself where the band performed that most glorious concert of joyful music.

if 10-29-1977 was a crackrock you would be under a bridge sucking a glass dick...

I would have said if 10/29/77 was a hot bath I'd be super-pruned when I finally got out, but if the whole crack pipe dick sucking thing works for you, that's just grand.

perhaps my metaphor was a tad dickish...let's compromise, if 10-29-1977 was a big chocolate sheet cake, you'd be hitting it like a sorority girl that's just been dumped...

anyhew, there should be a 10-29-1977 grok if there hasn't been already...I'm giving it a spin this morning in fact...personally, it's really hard for me to pick out one definitive '77 show, it's hard to do a top five, 05-08-1977, 06-09-1977, 09-03-1977, 10-29-1977, then what? 02-26, 03-19, 05-07, 05-09, 05-25-1977, 06-07-1977, 10-02-1977, 11-05-1977, 12-29-1977...

I know--what a truly ridiculous year in terms of consistently EXCELLENT shows.

Just to make it even tougher I'd throw in 4/23/77 for the outstanding Scarlet>Fire, the amazing Help>Slip (and especially) Franklin's, and then the crazy-ass GDTR>NFA monster jam finish.

I like the sorority girl analogy, btw ;-)

Let me know when a 10/29/77 Grok is in the works.
